Duration of ownership for vehicle imports into Mayotte will now be calculated differently by customs. The date of issue will be considered, instead of the date of first registration, on the new format vehicle registration certificates. Please make sure your clients are aware of this.

In order to avoid taxes on a vehicle, clients must prove that they have had the vehicle in their possession for more than a year, by submitting their insurance contract.

Furthermore, the EUR1 form is required to avoid customs duties of 25%.
