AGS – Now Present in Libya

The opening of a new AGS Frasers branch in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in January 2010, has strengthened the Group’s presence on the African continent, and completes the Group’s expansion in North Africa.

Even during a global economic crisis, AGS is able to supply an answer on demand, due to its strength and stability. The opening of this new branch is in response to an urgent requirement for removals services from oil companies and several large companies in Libya.

Libya is one of the major oil and gas producing African countries. Owing to the income generated from these industries, Libya has experienced intense growth in the past 50 years and has a promising future.

Laurent Bedleem has been entrusted with the leadership of the new branch. Laurent joined AGS in June 1998 and started his career as deputy manager at AGS Lille. He has since been appointed as branch manager of our subsidiaries in Guyana, Egypt, Zambia and Mozambique.

In Tripoli, all removals operations are completed with the support of Nawras International, a local company that specialises in transportation.

It is because of the expertise of this partner and the Group’s know-how, that AGS Frasers Libya can now offer its customers the best service possible, as is already the case in our network of 125 subsidiaries.

Mines and Money 2009 Exhibition

The Mines and Money 2009 exhibition took place 1 – 2 December, 2009, at the Business Design Centre in London. AGS Four Winds London exhibited at the event and was a proud ambassador of the AGS Group.

Mines and Money is an event that unites key decision makers from international mining, investment and government sectors, including other professional services. Over 2,800 people participated, and approximately 35% of the attendees were foreigners who came to the UK to attend the exhibition. In addition to other advantages, this exhibition is an excellent opportunity to network with key industry players and meet new potential investors.

The mining sector has been identified as a key business growth sector for the Group. AGS has branches in the most important mining countries in Africa and Asia, and a representative from each of these continents was available to speak to delegates visiting the stand. AGS Four Winds London attracted much interest for services to and from Asia and Eastern Europe.

AGS Four Winds London, represented by Julia Day, held a prize draw, and the winner was Mr Batmunkh Enkhnasan of Lotus Resources, Mongolia, who was delighted to receive a luxury Fortnum and Mason Christmas Hamper.

Mr Raviart’s Retirement

AGS announces the retirement of Mr Christian Raviart, an AGS employee since October 1987, and an esteemed colleague. Fortunately, he will remain in the world of moving when the Group benefits from his expertise as a business consultant in Reunion, starting 1 April 2010.

His extensive professional career started at AGS Marmande (SNF-Fourteau) where he began as a Sales Manager, and then became a Branch Manager until December 1990.

He then occupied other positions, such as Branch Manager of AGS Paris, General Manager of SOTEMAD and Technical and Transit Sales Operations, at AGS Paris.

In January 1997, he was appointed as the IT Manager at AGS Holding. Mr Raviart was in charge of AGS Réunion from October 1998, and he endeavoured to improve the branch’s financial performance.
