AGS Frasers Cape Town Hosts FIDI EIM Training Course

For the first time in the History of the FIDI Academy, an all-women tutor team facilitated a FIDI/EIM Training Course in Cape Town, South Africa.

Held during September this year, the intense training was conducted by “Chantal’s Angels”: Nicki French, Kim Ngoc and Maria Lundberg. By all accounts they excelled at their task!

The course took place from 27 September – 3 October 2009, and was the 4th FIDI EIM Training course since 2002, hosted in South Africa by the group. Twenty eight (28) students attended the intense 1 week training programme, which proved to be an unparalleled learning experience for them.

Participants came from all over Africa and South Africa, and a few from Europe and Asia. Employees were specifically hand selected to attend, so it was really an honour to be one of the selected few for training at the most prestigious school in the industry, i.e. “The FIDI Academy”.

As part of its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact, AGS believes in helping its employees to be the best they can be. Therefore, emphasis is placed on training to equip staff with sufficient knowledge of our industry in order to make a meaningful difference in their career choices.

AGS is also devoted to keeping its employees abreast of changes in international processes and procedures, ensuring that global standards are followed. It was for this reason that AGS decided to host another FIDI EIM training course, thus giving employees the opportunity to attend such a prestigious training programme. The AGS Group hosted a FIDI EIM training course in Bucharest earlier this year, and will host another one in March 2010 in Bangkok. Therefore, over a 12-month period, the AGS Group will have hosted 3 FIDI EIM courses.

Some comments from course students: “I would suggest that every person who starts out in this industry should do this course.” “It is very useful, and even if you know shipping logistics, there is always a lot more to learn when it comes to removals…” “After 7 years, I was amazed at what I learned, not only the knowledge but realising that I have many tools to help me do my job better”.

President Obama’s Visit to Ghana and AGS Frasers Ghana’s Accomplishment

American President, Barack Obama, chose Ghana for his first official visit to sub-Saharan Africa from 10 - 11 July, 2009. He showed his support to the country which, over the past 10 years, has demonstrated its willingness to strongly commit to democracy.

Barack Obama spoke to Ghanaian parliamentarians in Accra, and through them to all African politicians. In his speech, he urged Africans to stop war, corruption and disease in order to build a prosperous future. He then visited the Cape Coast fort, a memorial to black slavery, with his wife and two daughters. He commented that he viewed the fort as “a source of hope". It reminds us that as bad as history can be, it is also possible to overcome the past.”

AGS Frasers Ghana, which has been operating in Accra since 1996, was tasked with arranging the transportation of equipment and personal effects of the American president and his staff.

Fifteen trucks and skilled personnel were made available for this challenging logistical event.

Guillaume Dehem, branch manager of AGS Frasers Ghana, managed the multiple moves in accordance with instructions recieved from the US Embassy in Ghana. Despite local difficulties, including poor communication with numerous drivers, he and his staff remained in complete control of the event, and earned the praise of embassy officials for the flawless operation.

AGS Madrid Joins FIDI, while AGS Paris and AGS Frasers Botswana Confirm their Accreditation

The AGS Group now boasts 27 FAIM-accredited branches. AGS Madrid recently passed the FIDI (International Federation of International Movers) audit with flying colours.

At the same time, AGS Paris’ and AGS Frasers Botswana's FAIM accreditations have been renewed for four years following audits.

We would like to emphasise that both AGS Madrid, AGS Paris and AGS Frasers Botswana passed the FIDI-FAIM compliance procedure, without any factual findings.

FIDI initiated a quality standard in 1996, called FAIM, which is unique to the international removals industry. FIDI is the most prestigious association in the industry. Each member is selected according to strict criteria, thus guaranteeing that its members provide quality services while being financially stable.

The FAIM accreditation, which is obtained following an audit and certification process, is the quality hallmark of the moving profession.

Regular audits of this accreditation program are conducted by an external, independent auditor, Cap Gemini Ernst and Young. The FAIM benchmark reflects a company’s score, based on how well it performs against the FIDI-FAIM compliance procedure. The score is based on 16 parameters, clustered into four processes, namely:

  1. Resources
  2. Business competence
  3. Service
  4. Quality and environment

The AGS Group has been affiliated with the FIDI organisation since 1995. The following subsidiaries within the Group are FAIM accredited:

  • AGS Belgrade
  • AGS Bratislava
  • AGS Bucharest
  • AGS Budapest
  • AGS Four Winds London

AGS Bratislava at the "Circus"

AGS never misses an opportunity to connect with people. For this reason, our subsidiary in Bratislava recently sponsored the “Bal des fous” (the crazy ball), which was organised in Zlaté Piesky, a summer resort in the north east of Bratislava, Slovakia.

The theme of the costume party was "Circus", and it was held in heated tents. Five hundred guests attended the shows and the concert which formed part of the event. Prizes were supplied by the sponsors and awarded to those with the best costumes.

The ball, which ended at dawn, united guests from various backgrounds (French, American, Slovak, Czech, Greek, etc.), most of which are entrepreneurs.

AGS Bratislava was entrusted with the logistics for the operation (assembly and disassembly of the bar, dining area and cloakroom), and accomplished this in high spirits.

This event confirms the proverb, “The more, the merrier”.

Mr GoodMove Honours AGS Metz, AGS Frasers Johannesburg and AGS Alsace

All the branches achieved very good results on quality services, once again, but special congratulations to AGS Metz, AGS Frasers Johannesburg and AGS Alsace, who were recently honoured by Mr GoodMove, our customer satisfaction ambassador!

Mr GoodMove, which was created in April 2009, has reflected positively on their outstanding performance in its latest activity report.

Mr GoodMove acknowledged these subsidiaries for their achievements, which were evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Communication,
  • Client service,
  • Branch responsiveness,
  • Effective application of recommended, preventive and corrective actions.

These criteria will continue to be used in future to highlight the progress of customer service from our branches.

In order to improve our service to our customers, and in light of the success of Mr GoodMove, we expanded our Customer-Quality service, which has since acquired a new member in its division. Sandrine Angerville recently joined our Customer Quality Representatives, Diane Minkeng and Claude Ponchaut, under the supervision of Inna Maïga, the Customer Quality Manager.

AGS Ukraine Moves Borders

Twenty years ago the Berlin Wall came down. Important ceremonies, named "Feasts of Freedom”, were held in Berlin on November 9, the anniversary of German reunification.

This commemoration brought a number of political leaders together.

More than a thousand kilometres away from the German capital, AGS participated in this important event for democracy. AGS Ukraine moved an impressive 2.5 tons of the "Wall of Shame" from Berlin to Kiev.

The necessary logistics had been put in place to address the transportation and unloading of this exceptional convoy.

This historic symbol now stands proudly in front of the German Embassy in Ukraine.
